Videos from Chicago!
Hybrid mode is an autonomous mode that is preprogrammed. Ours didn't work too well, but we're in the process of fixing that. So the first 15 seconds is the robot driving itself.

Here's the first match I want to post. It's ugly. It's the match where we get eliminated in the quarter finals.

But here's a great match to watch. This one is when we beat the other alliance, and have a sweet place at the end: http://www.soap.circuitrunners.com/2008/movies/il/il_qf2m2.wmv

And one more from Friday's qualifying matches when we beat 1114, the team that went on to win the entire regional: http://www.soap.circuitrunners.com/2008/movies/il/il_044.wmv

It's WINTER!

There's been some small snow flurries for the past few days, and I've been bundled up pretty good all week to help endure the freezing weather. So here's a couple pictures to officially start off winter! This is me in four long sleeve shirts and a fleece coat. Tomorrow maybe I'll take pictures of me in my winter jacket.

It's Officially Winter! It's Officially Winter!
Time to model the hat and gloves!
Brrr, It's COLD! Brrr, It's COLD!
Better picture than the other one cause it's not as blurry.
Fluffy Kitty Fluffy Kitty
Even Nabia is cold, all fluffed up and watching the first little snow flurry.

"Little Italy" on Google Video
This is Little Italy, the Tamarin.
She wants my snowcone.
She's all, "wtf, why's this glass here, give me that sugar! Ooo, camera! no, stay focused, I. want. snowcone!"
She's so cute.

Butterfly!
Butterfly!
I had to wait like five minutes until the butterfly finally landed, and it was perfect cause it landed on the cactus. I took that one for Clare, and it's actually probably my favorite of the pics that I took

Pics of my new hair!

After much demand (and rightly so) from my bestest friend, I've finally uploaded the pictures from my camera of my new hair. So here they are:

Before )
After )
And here is a picture of the love of my life )
And here is a picture of my love affair )
Here's one more of me, not under a cut cause it's just one.
At the batting cages. I look so ripped in this picture. I'm finally getting strength back in my throwing arm!!! Hitting 60s here too, but I didn't do so well, the skirt was throwing me off a lot.

To see more pictures, click the pictures and they'll take you to my scrapbook. I have more to upload, which I'll do later probably.
Now I'm off to do some laundry and read.
Loves!

New Email Address

I changed my email account. I am so sick of AOHell right now! So I switched to hotmail. Yayy!

My new email address is CarolynGraceB@hotmail.com.

This is the address I will be checking daily. My aol one I'll check daily for a while, but only to make sure anything important is being transferred to my new one. I know I missed some people on the email that I sent out because I'm not sure of people's current emails (Dena! You've changed yours so much, I have like fifteen!!!) So please, email me at my new address so I can add you to my contacts. (Rachel that means you, lil cousin!).

Loves and God bless!

Seductive, Constructive, Productive

Some confusing stuff going on today! Talking to my bestest friend helped emmensely immensely (thank you for being my spell checker, Clare) though. She's the best.

Other than confusingness: classes were great, work was fine, and I just finished my abstract that's due on Friday (I need to email it tomorrow). Yay! I now need to do some more reading for class tomorrow, print off some things for the Chairman's award (robotics stuff), and clean my bedroom.

Yay for productiveness!

See what I've been buzzing about?

I'm HOOOME! And utterly exhausted! I slept in til 10:00, but that doesn't mean much cause in my head it was only 9:00. My team did awesome. We won two awards:
DaimlerChrysler Team Spirit Award...Celebrates extraordinary enthusiasm and spirit through exceptional partnership and teamwork.
Imagery Award
Celebrates attractiveness in engineering and outstanding visual aesthetic integration of machine and team appearance.
So, basically, we are enthusiastic and we look good doing it. We're one of the most recognzied team in FIRST. And we've been attempting to get that Spirit Award for twelve years!!! A good many of us were crying when they called our name.
We made it to the quarter finals, and did alright. But part of Buzz12 broke in our very last match. >_o It's kinda a major part, but it'll be fixed by the Detroit regional Thursday.
Here's a video of one of our matches! I have four other videos that I'll just link to at the bottom if you're interested. The quality died a LOT from uploading to google video...the quality that I have on my computer is amazing. But, oh well. And yes, that's me that you can hear the clearest. >_< BRING ON THE BUZZ!

"Traaadiitioooooon! Tradition!"

Haven't done this in a while, and because I'm awake and trying to settle my mind down I thought I'd fill out a Friday Five:
1. How far back can you trace your family tree? Personally I can't recall that far back unfortunatly. My mom would know both sides of my family though pretty far back. All I know is that I'm about 23% German. :-D

2. What is the most interesting (or strange) thing you've heard about one of your relatives? One of my second cousins is a documentary maker dude; I think my mom mentioned something about having a third cousin that's wanted by the FBI or something like that and the last anyone heard of him was in CA; I have family pretty much all over the world right now, so that's kinda interesting: Spain, Australia, Nebraska (a foreign country as far as I'm concerned), Korea (sorta), and Florida.

3. How do you feel about legacy names like John Henry Smith IV or naming children after other relatives? Depends on the relative and the name. I won't name my children a name I don't like (this is something I owe Derek an apology over constantly because I don't like his middle name: Alfred, but it was his grandpa's name, and it's his dad's name). But I'd love to pass on my middle name, which is Grace.

4. Would you consider yourself and/or your family to be traditional? yes, but not in the traditional sense. hehe. We have modern traditions like bowling as a family, and an appreciate for Disney, and having all the cousins sit on the floor in a row at Grandma's house for dinners because there's not enough room at tables. I miss Grandma's house. I miss Grandma.

5. What is one tradition you have passed on to your children and/or plan to pass on to them?Disney stuff for sure. Probably, as silly as it is, wearing matching PJ's on Christmas Day. FFF days. Hopefully things from Derek's family too, like maybe going to dinner with his dad on Monday nights (I think that would be a good way for our kids to visit with their Grandpa Fred regularly) and playing football...but not til they're older!

hm. That's it. :-D

Taking a little break

I'm taking a break from Livejournal. Just a week hopefully.
Please pray for me.
...I shall soon return to the millions of entries that I missed on my hiatus.
As always,

Preparing for The Guys!

Oh! hello change in LJ format when writing an entry. I like you. You're much cleaner looking.

Anyway.
I slept in tooooday! 9:00 is so sleeping in.

Things TO DO Today!
1. Clean my bedroom
2. Take care of all the Christmas decoration boxes
3. Laundry! Lots of Laundry!
4. Clean the bathroom: smack some sense into my sister!
5. Clean Crush's cage...hire little brother and dad to help with this.
6. LUNCH...I think I'll do this first, I'm starving.
7. Clean up the basement....vaccuum a lot! Dust all the toys down there! Make sure it's clean enough for the boys to sleep in.
8. Shopping with mom for groceries? Maybe shopping with dad instead?
9. Vaccuum the rest of the house...possibly hire little brother to do this.
10. NO CLASSES OR WORK!
11. Work Christmas party/dinner at 6:30 at Papa Vinno's.
12. Hang out with Abigail?

That's about it!
It should be a great day.
Off to find some food!

Christmas Meme! Then seriously writing this paper.

1. Wrapping paper or gift bags? It depends on the person and present. If it's a bunch of little things, I'll put them in a gift bag. If it's box-shaped, wrapping is a no-brainer.

2. Real tree or artificial? My family would love to have a real tree, but with everyone so busy: dad starting a new job, mom working and schooling, me with a million things, we just don't have the time. It's sad. But we loyally set up the artificial and decorated it all pretty.

3. When do you put up the tree? We set it up last Friday!

4. Do you like eggnog? Heh, I usually have a glass once a year to remind myself that I really don't like it.

5. Favorite gift received as a child? Going to Disney last year.

6. Do you have a nativity scene? Yep! Like three of them. My favorite one is the tiny little wooden one that's like a toy. The pieces are smaller than an inch, and we used to take turns setting it up different ways (hehe, sometimes one of the wisemen got to me Joseph, heh, *that's* not kosher!)

7. Hardest person to buy for? Everyone. I'm so bad at Christmas. I never know what to get anyone, and no one ever helps me out with suggestions!

8. Easiest person to buy for? Dad - get him a huge clock to put on his clock wall! Mom too sometimes, usually she'll tell you straight up what she wants.

9. Worst Christmas gift you ever received? Eh, probably a Christmas mug. Nothing horrible, just cliche. Hehehe, and I give them as presents to people who I don't know how to shop for, so yeah, I can't complain.

10. Mail or email Christmas cards? Oh MAIL for sure. I love looking at people's pictures and reading their three page letters!

11. Favorite Christmas Movie? Elf! "I'm siiiinging. I'm in store and I'm SIIIINGinG!"

12. When do you start shopping for Christmas? As soon as finals are done. Which is today!

13. Have you ever recycled a Christmas present? Oh come on now, who hasn't? haha.

14. Favorite thing to eat at Christmas? fruit pizza!!!

15. Clear lights or colored on the tree? colored! This year our tree is green and white: Go Spartans!

16. Favorite Christmas song? "Mary Did You Know" and "Grown Up Christmas List" and "Come O Come Emmanual"

17. Travel at Christmas or stay home? Stay at home. I hate travelling. Unless it's to a Dennis house.

18. Can you name all of Santa's reindeers? Yes. I work at a daycare.

19. Angel on the tree top or a star? Angel! We got a new one this year, she's white, with light green lace on her dress. Or Tinker Bell. I have a Tink topper.

20. Open the presents Christmas Eve or morning? My birthday is on Christmas Eve! So presents on BOTH DAYS! But...as a family, we've started a couple traditions: open the presents from Grma and Grpa right away, but do it carefully so as not to rip the paper or boxes...take out Christmas present, enjoy it or laugh about it, close up box and wrap it empty, and put it under the tree again. If you can do this without Dad catching you, you get extra points. Another tradition: everyone open one present at midnight.

21. Most annoying thing about this time of year? It's also exam season, so that adds a ton of stress. Also, parents who take their kids to the daycare during the holiday weeks even when they have the days off (and no, most of them are NOT doing their shopping then). Also, not being with loved ones: Myria, Peter, Rachel, Elijah, the Twins, Renee, Grandma and Grandpa Dennis...it can be hard. Especially when Derek's at school still.

Seduction Quiz!

Tehehehe, this is totally amusing. So much that I read it outloud to my mom and my sister, and mom wants to take the quiz now. Anyway, Derek needs to tell me if it's right or not.

**edit**
OHMYGOOSH, I HAVE THE SAME SEDUCTIVE STYLE AS MY MOTHER!!! hahahahahaha, that's so wrong.

My seduction style. )

Christmas/Birthday Wishlist!

My name is Carolyn Grace. I'm a 21 year old English Major!
I love life and love Christmas time. My birthday is on Christmas Eve, so I have always
(sorta selfishly) thought of Christmas as my own personal holiday. I've already gone through some of the lists and hopefully granted a couple presents, I'd love to have a few of mine granted in return.
Leave a comment, I'll email you the address you can send things to (it's a P.O. for safety reasons!)!
Loves! God bless during these Holi-Days.

1. IM me at Car0lyGrace on AIM Right this instant I am stuck in a seriously long class that I hate, but my boyfriend and best friend are driving home for Thanksgiving, so I have no one to talk to!!! Add me to your list, and IM me at somepoint, just say you saw my Holiday List and we'll chat. :)

2. Socks! I work in the infant room at a daycare. I can't wear shoes in that room (we try to keep it as clean as possible for the babies to crawl around in), so I like fun socks: fuzzy ones, comfy ones, cute ones, silly ones, beautiful ones...whatever you come up with! I wear size 8-11.

3. Wedding or Engagement magazines/pictures. My sister is engaged, and I'll be engaged sometime in the next 8 months hopefully. We're looking for bridesmaid's dresses for my sister's wedding, and I just LOVE to look at the pictures in the magazines.

4. Anything to do with face painting. Do you have a picture of yourself with your face painted? Do you have face paints at home I could have? Do you know of a book you could send me? Do you have your own ideas that you've drawn out that I could use? anything and everything to do with face painting is awesome.

5. Nail polish! New? Used? Doesn't matter! I am on week two of not biting me nails, I'm doing awesome! Nail polish would be a great present to give me more motivation and reward for breaking a very difficult habit for me.

6. Gas cards. National chains are the best for this, obviously. Meijer would work. See, my boyfriend, Sir Derek, and my best friend, Clare, go to school 250 miles away. Because Derek plays college football and has to stay around school for the majority of his weekends, it's up to me to drive to see him when I get the chance. I drive down there at least every three weeks. I also commute to school. Although it's not $4.00 a gallon like it was predicted it would be at this time, gas is still expensive. Gas cards would be awesome.

7. Italian charms I love my bracelet! Charms that I would like (if they even exist): teddy bear, baby, books, grey cat, pirate, love, ballroom dance, tools, robotics, superhero, writing, poe, whitman, detroit pistons, catholic, disney things, indiana jones, han solo, lightsaber...you can also check my interests for things. Really, any extra charm you have around, I'd love. If I don't like it or use it, I'll pass it on to someone else!

8. Stickers! Particularly butterfly stickers for my best friend, Clare, and bee stickers for me, and my FIRST Robotics team: The Killer Bees, Team 33.

9. Light a votum candle in a Catholic Church for one of the following: my Grandpa Ken who died of Pancreatic cancer ~ 6 years ago, my Grandma Mary who died a year and a half ago, Derek and my's relationship, two of my best friends mother's who died this year, my best friend Clare - for help with fulfilling her goal of finishing school and going back to Africa to help pregnant women there, a general prayer of guidance for my life. If you do this, it would be fantastic if you could send me a piece of literature from the church (a weekly bulitain perhaps?), but if you can't do this, just an email to tell me where would be wonderful.

10. Donation to Salvation Army. Go through your clothes, old things, etc...donate anything you haven't used in the past year or so.
